Samsung Galaxy Note 8 - Everything you need to know! | Specification

Samsung just announced the all new Samsung Galaxy Note 8. We all know the Note 7 didn't do well last year because of the battery exploding issues. But still it was able to win many people's heart and consumers were waiting for the Note 8 for a long time. Finally it's here. Here is everything you need to know about Note 8.

Design
The design is very familiar. It is also covered by full metal and glass body. It's like the Galaxy S8/S8+ with the S pen. There is a new button below the volume rockers for Bixby which is the personal assistant for Samsung users. It's not new for the S series but it's the first time we're getting in Note. Gone is the physical home button, back key and recent apps key. Samsung says Home button is embedded beneath the display and it gives haptic feedback when you press harder. Again same like the S8/S8+. Along the bottom is the S pen, speaker, USB type C and yes thankfully there is still a headphone jack. Display and back panel both is made up of Garilla glass 5. Considering the large 6.3” display the phone is significantly small in size and easy to use. The fingerprint placement is still a huge disappointment for a lot of people which is up on the top of the back of the phone. People with small hand will barely reach up there and the iris scanner feature is also there anyway which some find awesome, some doesn't even bother to use it. Even though this phone is quite heavy and thick than usual, the battery is just 3300 mAh which is not that bad but still it's less than S8+.

Camera
Finally Samsung decided to put the dual camera system in their flagship. Note 8 comes with the dual 12 megapixel camera. One telephoto lens and one wide angle lens and the best part is both comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) unlike other dual camera phones like iPhone 7 Plus and OnePlus Five. Having OIS in both camera means the footage result you'll get will be really steady and smooth. There is also a new feature called “Live preview”. It is similar as the “Portrait mode” in iPhone 7 Plus which blurs the background and focuses just on the main subject giving you bokeh effect but what you also get here is that you can get a live preview of what it will look like before you even take a picture. Also using the telephoto and wide angle lens when you click a single photo you can get two photos at the same time, one zoomed in and one wide angle.
8 megapixel front camera with f/1.7 aperture lens is same as the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ which is not that bad actually it's great.

Display
The display is Quad HD+ (2960*1440) with 521 ppi and is Super AMOLED. Like the other flagship are this is also now 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Samsung has never disappointed us in the display part. The colours are really vibrant, saturated and blacks are deep dark as we expect from Samsung devices. The melting curved edge of the phone makes the movies, games more enjoyable. Now the big display is even more useful than before. There is new feature called App pairing. It basically pairs two apps together can be either placed in apps edge or homescreen and it will open both paired apps simultaneously in multi window view. Great feature for multi-tasking users.

Hardware
Note series is not complete without the S pen. Samsung says it's improved than last year and it's much pressure sensitive than ever before. Both the S pen and the Note 8 is IP68 certified which means it's fully dust and water resistant upto one and a half meter for 30 minutes. It's powered by the Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895 depending which model you have. This time Samsung has jumped from 4 GB to 6 GB LPDDR4 of RAM. 64 GB is the standard variant you'll get along with 128 GB and 256 GB with micro SD card expansion.

Software
It will be Android 7.1.1 Nougat straight out of the box and will soon get update of Android 8 Oreo. We all loved the screen off memo feature in the Note 7, now it's even more fun. You can write upto 100 pages without even waking the screen on. The new software in Note 8 also lets you to record your drawing and send them to social medias as GIF. The new S pen is now capable of translating the whole sentence into different languages simply by hovering it on the text.
