Samsung unveils the first full-screen Galaxy phone

Today on April 10, Samsung unveiled the first galaxy phone to have a full-screen edge to edge display. Samsung is calling this the new infinity display. In the Samsung’s A event held in Bangkok, Samsung unveiled the Samsung Galaxy A80 along with other A series phones. But unlike others, the galaxy A80 is the only galaxy phone to have a New infinity display.

Samsung Galaxy A80 has 6.7” FHD+ Super AMOLED display. If the display is edge to edge then the front cameras need to go somewhere. Many brands tried different ways to fit the front camera somewhere else either with the help of pop-up camera technology or with the motorized slider. Here, Samsung too decided to adopt that feature. But instead of having a separate front camera, Samsung decided to use the same camera for both front and rear view. Samsung Galaxy A80 has a motorized slider and when the selfie mode in the camera app is selected, the same rear camera pops up from the back of the phone and rotates.

The Samsung Galaxy A80 has triple cameras, one main 48 MP camera with F/2.0, one ultra-wide 8 MP camera with F/2.2 and one 3D depth camera. The 3D depth camera is used for the Live Focus video mode that the A80 offers. And the ultra-wide camera covers 123°. Besides this, the galaxy A80 also has some intelligent camera features such as Flaw Detection that identifies the glitches in the picture before you click and Scene optimizer that can recognize and enhance up to 30 scenes.

There is an on-screen fingerprint sensor on the galaxy A80. The Samsung Galaxy A80 has 3,700 mAh battery with 25 W Super-Fast charging capability. The phone comes with 128 GB of internal memory with 8 GB of RAM. And unfortunately, the A80 doesn’t support microSD card.

Samsung has not talked about the processor used in this device and the specification of the 3D Depth camera.

The device is available in 3 colors; Angel gold, Ghost white and Phantom black. This phone will launch on May 29^th.
