OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro: This is what we get

OnePlus is about to launch its new flagship phone. There are lot of hype going on regarding the OnePlus’ new phone. And in this post, I’ll be talking about everything we know so far about the next flagship killer just before the official launch.

Usually, OnePlus releases one phone at a time. But this time around OnePlus seems to follow the trend by releasing more than one phone. We’re expecting at least two new phones from the OnePlus this time. As expected the name of the phone would be the OnePlus 7 however, along with it there is also the pro version.

As per design goes, we’re not going to see new design in the OnePlus 7. The leaks show that the Oneplus 7 design is going to be same as the OnePlus 6T with same teardrop notch above the display. But what separates the OnePlus 7’ design from the 6T is the flash. This time the flash and the two rear cameras are together inside the camera hump unlike in the 6T where the flash was outside the camera hump. But the OnePlus 7 Pro however is completely redesigned. OnePlus is saying there is no notch; there is no bezel in the 7 Pro. The front of the phone is full display. And if the front is full display, the front camera needs to go somewhere. So, the OnePlus 7 Pro has adapted pop-up selfie camera technology like in some other phones from Vivo and Oppo. Some people love that technology, some hate. It has its own advantages and disadvantages, let me know what you guys think.

From all the renders and all, we’re sure that the OnePlus 7 Pro will have 3 rear cameras. The leaks suggest that it will have 3X zoom. And not only that, OnePlus themselves are uploading photos taken from the OnePlus 7 Pro, and here you can see it surely has that telephoto lens.

On the display side, the standard OnePlus 7 is said to have a 6.2” Full HD+ AMOLED display. But on the pro version, OnePlus has definitely spent some time making the display as good as they can. The display on the OnePlus 7 Pro is said to be 6.64” Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display. This is the first time OnePlus is using Quad HD+ display. OnePlus confirms the Pro variant has HDR10+ display. Not only that, if you’ve been following OnePlus lately, they’re using the word Smooth more than ever. What they mean by that is the display is smoother than ever with 50% higher refresh rate at 90 Hz. Normal smartphone’s displays run at 60Hz. So, 90 Hz means this will make the whole thing much smoother. And also display research and test lab the DisplayMate rated A+ to the display of OnePlus 7 Pro. So, the display of the OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to be better than ever.

On the camera side, as I said earlier the standard OnePlus 7 will have a single front camera on a tear-drop notch and dual rear cameras and the expensive Pro variant will have a single pop-up selfie camera and triple rear cameras. Both the phones are said to have 48 MP main sensors made by Sony.

Performance wise, OnePlus has never disappointed us with the specs. Likewise, the upcoming 7 and the 7 Pro will have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and at least 6GB RAM and 128GB internal memory for the base model.

Rumours says the standard OnePlus 7 will have bigger battery than of the Pro variant with 4,150 mAh battery as oppose to the 4,000 mAh battery on the OnePlus 7 Pro. Both devices will have the support for OnePlus’ 30W Warp Charge standard with USB 3.1. It will also feature the UFS 3.0 storage, which is the fastest storage option we have, making the phone faster. Rumours also suggest that there will be stereo speaker setup. And OnePlus is saying there is a new better larger vibration motor in its upcoming phones.

And also OnePlus 7 Pro is going to be the first OnePlus phone to have 5G connectivity. However, we don’t know if 5G connectivity will be available in all the OnePlus 7 Pro or there will be different variant for that.

Being said all this, there are still something missing. OnePlus won’t have any IP rating meaning it will not be water-resistant certified. But OnePlus is saying that it can withstand some exposure to water and the IP rating would make the phone more expensive. And the wireless charging feature will still not be available in the OnePlus 7 and the 7 Pro.
